The Honorable Robert L. Miller, Jr., inactive senior district judge for the US District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, recently completed a research project documenting the history of the Court. The project can be viewed on the Center for History website.
Judge Miller shared: "I started on this project when I went on inactive status to avoid going crazy. It quickly became a labor of love. Each chapter addresses a different judge, including only the judges who have passed away. The text of each chapter is devoted to facts of the judge’s life and high-profile cases the judge handled. The footnotes include my personal thoughts and stories that I know or have heard. Many judges included in this work sat regularly in South Bend: Thomas Slick; Luther Swygert; Lynn Parkinson; Robert Grant; George Beamer; and Allen Sharp."
SJCBA members are invited to read the history and to share it with friends and family.
